Grid theory has been empowering progressive change in organizations since the 1950s when group dynamics and behavior were first identified as a driving force in team performance. Over the last five decades Grid International (formerly Scientific Methods) has worked with thousands of companies and hundreds of thousands of participants in over 17 languages across the world.
Grid theory was developed by Dr. Robert Blake and Dr. Jane S. Mouton, two of the leading pioneers of leadership consulting and transformational change in organizations. Steeped in behavioral science, Grid learning has been successfully adapted to corporate, governmental, and academic bodies to effect dynamic and lasting change.
Drs. Blake and Mouton founded our company in 1961 after over fifteen years of professorship at the University of Texas at Austin.
True visionaries, Drs. Blake and Mouton have been an instrumental force in transitioning the revolutionary powers of academic psychology and behavioral science to the heightened day-to-day performance of corporate and governmental organizations. Dr. Blake has lectured at Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge Universities, and has worked on special assignments at the Tavistock Clinic, London, as a Fulbright Scholar. He was elected to the Human Resources Hall of Fame in 1982 and chosen as a Management Laureate author in 1992.
Until his passing on June 20, 2004, Dr. Blake remained a diplomat in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and
a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
Grid International proudly continues this tradition and legacy of extensive development of organizational behavior research and development programs. We have an outstanding product development team that continues to support the scientific rigor of our research and further develop and refine our programs.
