Grid International (formerly Scientific Methods) was founded in 1961 by Dr. Robert R. Blake and Dr. Jane S. Mouton, two world-renowned, pioneering behavioral scientists specializing in professional training and organization development.

Drs. Blake and Mouton developed a worldwide network of consultants, co-authored over 40 books plus hundreds of articles, and provided consultation for governments, industries, and universities in 40 countries. The works of Drs. Blake and Mouton and of our company have been cited as part of the foundation of countless other publications, university programs, and management systems throughout the world.

Our company was the world's first to institute an organization development effort in a major American corporation. Working initially with Exxon, Drs. Blake and Mouton perfected the Grid approach and demonstrated its ability to promote excellence.

In 1997, Grid International, Inc. was purchased by Bruce Carlson along with a group of investors. Having worked with Grid methodology for more than 13 years, Bruce was convinced of its long term application and its inherent power to deliver change on an individual, team, and corporate level.

He has attracted a group of professionals whose goal was to:
  • redesign the product offering to fit current needs, especially change, conflict resolution, and teamwork; and
  • retain the core value and power of the theory and expand its distribution capability worldwide.
Today's Grid Partner is a seasoned business professional, thoroughly trained in the human psychology and engineering underpinning theory, skilled in its practical application, and committed to producing significant and measurable results.

Grid International has expanded this network to over 40 partner offices around the world as we carry forward our proud heritage of continued development and refinement of our scientific methodology. Grid's rigorously selected facilitators work with a broad range of industries using our fundamental principles, which have proven to be even more vital in today's fast-paced and competitive workplace where sound communication and commitment are imperative for success.
